I have SQL Server express 2012 and webmatrix 3 but would like to upgrade my SQL Server Express to 2014.

The web platform installer does not seem to include SQl Server 2014 ?

Is it a good idea to upgrade to express 2014 when working with webmatrix and web pages ?

There’s no reason why you cannot use SQL Server 2014 or indeed any other database with Web Pages sites. You can download SQL Server Express 2014 here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=42299
